Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow
“Love, hard work, luck and if you have a passion, you will find a way. That is a common sense, actually. There is no recipe for success, but if you have all of this implanted, it will hopefully come to you. Like Van Gough, he died of poverty and is a major influence on art, but he never really achieved his fame while he was alive. Do what you love to do. It is just a matter of time when it all comes together; maybe it is just like more than destination. We are moving forward and are trying to achieve something else for the excitement of living.”
A Cool Job
By Dawn Bonner
Misha Matorin, president of DreamCast Entertainment, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada has a cool job. Matorin’s road to success started in St. Petersburg, Russia pretty much the day he was born. You see, he was born into a circus-director family.
Education
“At age seven, I started in The Circus University and stayed there for seven years. You study whole skills, plus classes on History of Theatre, and History of Art; a serious education,” said Matorin.
“Not like sports, it teaches people the whole trade: make-up, rigging, costuming, gymnastics, and things that will be useful for the future,” said Matorin.
After graduating, he toured with the Moscow Circus. Later, he was hired by Cirque De Soleil Allegria. The floating magic cube performed in Cirque’s Mystere act in Vegas was invented by Matorin and his father.

“My dad used to say when I complained—it is hard work, you are doing what you love to do. And, you love to travel and you get paid for what you are doing. How hard can it be? Most people work hard all their lives and then retire to travel. I have done an upside down life,” laughed Matorin.
“It is a long journey in the circus world. I have really loved this since I was a child and growing up in an artistic family has shaped my love of the circus,” he said. “I started my company in Las Vegas, after I retired from Cirque, continued to do what I loved to do. Produce and choreograph. It was a natural transition,” said Matorin.
Matorin's Creations
So far, Matorin has created four incredible cirque style shows: Balagan, Ezuru, Taganai and his latest creation Alphelion, which just opened at the Eldorado in Reno, Nevada. Each production has its own original score. The music is haunting, exciting, rich and enthusiastic.
The Music
Of the music, Matorin says, “The music is awesome. The very talented composer lives in Russia. The recording studio is in Russia. Soon, he is coming to see the show, bringing his family. His family is beautiful.”
Visit CirqueStyle to hear the musical scores of each production. You may purchase soundtracks of each show at this site and view photographs of the performances.
The Costumes
The costumes, like the characters that wear them, are out of this world. The lush colors are alive and vibrant; creating energy that holds its own with the music, the exhilarating choreography and edgy, breathtaking acrobatics.
Matorin is a humble man. He does not take credit for these awe-inspiring productions.
“The energy you create when you bring it all together, it is like we are becoming one big mind that is the creation of the project. It is art and very individual, yet it is all team work, it is not I—versus we,” Matorin thoughtfully relayed.

Inspirations
Everything inspires Matorin; from traveling the world, to the performers and the personalities, as well as his wife and 8 year old daughter.
“Must be something from us that connects us to the other world, something just sparks, a little click, then the light bulb goes boom, then big illumination like Vegas,” shared Matorin.
The acrobatics in the shows literally take your breath away.
“[We] find performers by scouting agents or go myself. Being in business so long receive lots of tapes and phone calls, this way we have accumulated a big data base. It is hard to find something unique. It is a challenge, but it is fun. Getting to know new people, getting to bring them to the country, and letting them work and become an associate,” said Matorin.
About America
He added, “You were born here, you had no choice. I used to live in England, had a house. Also, Russia and Australia, then here. First, was to be here for a year, but seeing the way of life and being here I realized this was the best place I have been so far. Became a citizen, and am happy about that.”
Recognition
Balagan was voted Best of 2005 by the Reno Gazette-Journal
and selected Best Casino Show of 2006.
